Legal Compliance

The Brush Turkey also known as a Scrub Turkey or Bush Turkey has a scientific name Alectura Lathami and is fully protected in Queensland law. Hurting, hunting or relocating these birds is punishable. To protect the species there are a few members of society that have a special Permit to relocate this protected species.

Important

When booking in your Brush Turkey relocation company make sure your technician has Damage Mitigation Permit and has current approval from the Queensland Government to carry out the task legally to avoid a fine of $3,000 units or two years imprisonment against the Nature Conservation Act 1992 class 1 offence.

Do you have a female Turkey or a male Turkey? and why does it matter?

The male has a large bright yellow flap of skin that hangs from his neck and has a three noted deep grunting booming call.

He also happens to be responsible for building mounds for the eggs. Please note young males may not have a mound yet!

Why does this matter?

Firstly a cage to catch a male will generally have a removable mirror in the back of the cage to attract him in. Once he sees another male he will want to confront the intruder. Once trapped the mirror needs to be removed immediately to maintain their safety. A sheet is then placed over the cage to reduce stimulation. It is also important to know if your male Turkey has his eggs in his mound. One mound can have up to 24 eggs and as the Turkeys existence is becoming threatened measures must be taken to ensure the survival of the specie.

We provide cruelty free and legal relocation for Possums, once caught in our large cages the Possum will be relocated up to 25m away from your home. We will give you time to fix all entry points so the Possum cannot return into for example your roof cavity. We do not make alterations to your home we give this opportunity to you so you can possibly save greatly on repair costs. As you may know Possums are a protected species so our qualified technician will take every precaution to help the Possum through this difficult change.

“Catch us if you can” will also offer a Possum home installed in your yard to entice your possum to stay outside. These are hand made locally will some of the proceeds going to Wild Life Protection.
